Meet Rachel
Hi, I’m Rachel—nature educator, animation lecturer and mum behind Buttercup Learning.
With over 19 years in education and animation (including work at Aardman Animations and my current role in animation lecturing), I’ve always been passionate about creativity, storytelling, and how we learn best.
I founded Buttercup Learning, a nature-based education platform that blends creativity, well-being, and outdoor exploration. Through seasonal activity boxes, digital downloads, and a growing curriculum, I support home-educating families, especially those raising neurodivergent children.
As a mum to an autistic PDA daughter, I know how overwhelming traditional approaches can feel. That’s why I created this guide to help you begin a gentle, sensory-friendly learning journey that fits your child’s rhythm and celebrates their curiosity.
You don’t need a big garden, perfect routine, or piles of prep. Just a bit of wonder, a moment outside (or at the window), and support that truly sees your child.
“As a neurodivergent home-ed mum, I had no idea how to start learning through nature without it becoming overwhelming.
This guide made it feel doable, and enjoyable. We started with one small activity and now nature’s part of our everyday rhythm.”
